Misleading advertising
I don't know if you have watched this movie or not. If you haven't then you should and then let me know if you agree with me or not. I'm addicted to movies and I watch trailers all day and I know all the movies coming out until next year. So my judgment isn't bias as you might think. I saw this movie trailer at the beginning of the year and said YES?! that's a hell of a movie I must watch it. Johnny Depp is in it and the trailer is captivating.I went to the theater and found myself a little bit bored because the movies wasn't that great and at some point I couldn't figure out who was the villain and what was the point of it by the trailer you wont say that it is a love story and that he lives to please her you think that the movie is scientific, exciting and you get a feeling of rush. Believe me when I tell you it isn't like that. It isn't a bad movie is quite interesting and very educational. However, if you make a trailer with lots of action and suspense people will expect nothing more nothing less than an action movie. My friends liked it but to be honest I did not. As a marketing student I learned that you have to deliver what you promised. It is important for your customers to know that they can trust your brand and your adverts must be the mirror to your products. Of course that movies are a little bit different because you can't make blockbusters all the time but people expect much from you after a certain performance. Some movie trailers make you want to go and watch it at the cinemas others just don't even tho the lead actor is a good one. I just dislike the fact that it has become too easy to make a movie and most of the time the director or the writer loses the focus and the history gets confused. I think that they are not making that much of an effort to make good movies. There are lots of movies that don't make it to the big screens, there are a lot of good movies but we are lacking great movies.Movies that will make you laugh so hard you will cry, action movies that have a twist in the end, suspense movies that actually makes you think, thrillers that are not about exorcism or devil. Its all cliches now. The trailers are better than the actual movie.Less people are going to the cinema not only because of the internet but because its predictable. Back in the days, before the 3D movies it was all about sending a message or making people want to be like their idols(ex: Rambo). Lately the movies are less impressive and more commercial (ex: James Bond). I have nothing against product placement I just think that nowadays everything is about the brands and how well you fit in the society. Products are supposed to make you feel good not to make you jealous or give you a reality check. When you go to the cinema you want to relax, have a good time and just forget about everything but if you regret the money you paid then it isn't worthy.
